Spanish conversation practice with an AI tutor
Practise speaking Spanish from Spain with a Talkio AI Spanish tutor. Choose a real situation, answer aloud, review feedback and repeat the parts you found difficult. You can start with short exchanges and build toward longer conversations as you become more comfortable.
What can you practise in Spanish?
Try these prompts with your tutor. They are suggested scenarios you can adapt, rather than fixed lessons or guaranteed responses.
- At a café: “Actúa como camarero en una cafetería. Hazme una pregunta cada vez.” Try “Quisiera un café con leche, por favor” (“I'd like a coffee with milk, please”), then answer a follow-up question about your order.
- Finding your way: “Estoy buscando la estación. Ayúdame a pedir indicaciones.” Practise “¿Cómo puedo llegar a la estación?” (“How can I get to the station?”) and ask someone to repeat a direction.
- Making plans: “Pregúntame qué quiero hacer este fin de semana.” Explain a plan with “Me gustaría…” (“I'd like to…”), then give a reason.
Begin with a few useful phrases. On your second attempt, change the order, destination or plan so you have to create an answer rather than recite it.
Practise pronunciation used in Spain
Many speakers in Spain distinguish the sound of z and c before e/i from s: compare “caza” and “casa.” Other Spanish varieties, including some in Spain, pronounce them alike. Both patterns are valid; listen for the variety you want to practise.
For the single and double r, compare “pero” (but) and “perro” (dog). Listen, say each word slowly, and use it in a short sentence. Review Talkio's pronunciation feedback, then retry one phrase instead of repeating an entire conversation.
Speech scores can be affected by your recording and accent. Treat them as practice feedback, not an official language certificate. For a longer routine, read our guide to practising spoken Spanish with AI.
Beginner and intermediate Spanish speaking practice
Beginner: Say your name, where you live and one thing you like. Ask the tutor to use short questions. Useful phrases include “No entiendo” (“I don't understand”) and “¿Puedes repetirlo?” (“Can you repeat that?”).
Intermediate: Tell a story about yesterday, compare two options, or explain a plan. Ask for follow-up questions and practise giving reasons with “porque.” Review a recurring mistake, then use the correction in a different sentence.
Spend two minutes preparing, five minutes speaking, and three minutes reviewing one or two improvements. You do not need to know every word before you start talking.
Spain Spanish or Latin American Spanish?
Choose the variety that matches the people you expect to speak with. In much of Spain you will hear “vosotros” for informal plural “you”; Latin American speakers generally use “ustedes.” Vocabulary and pronunciation also vary within each region. Explore Mexican Spanish if that is more relevant to your goals.
